For our second year in a row, Colonial Insurance Agency is the proud sponsor of the annual $500 Turkey Call Contest, to be given to the Orange County high school senior who can demonstrate their best turkey call.

We are happy to announce this year’s winner is Kevin Barth. Kevin is a senior at Chapel Hill High School. He is graduating at the top of his class, has been involved in his school’s student government and the National Honors Society. He’s also participated in several volunteering  activities in his community, such as the Newman Catholic Center Coat Drive, which aims to distribute donated coats the homeless, and Food for The Summer, a program that provides meals to disadvantaged children.  Kevin is planning to attend either UNC or Notre Dame. He intends on pursing a degree in finance and mathematics, eventually hoping to get his masters. Kevin had not previously been acquainted with turkey calling, but committed to teaching himself to use a box call prior to the contest. Although he is still new to calling, he showed motivation and persistence, and was able to demonstrate his new skills by performing several different calls for us.

Colonial Insurance Agency is happy to reward a student who shows such great desire to learn and try new things, as well as a dedication to his community. It is with great pride that we award Kevin Barth this years $500 Turkey Call Scholarship. We wish him the best of luck with his college career, and hope he keeps up the turkey calling! Congratulations!
